The Artona Story

Hard work, determination and innovation is the Artona story — and family.

How It Started

1909

Artona studio opens in downtown Vancouver, BC. The name is a combination of “art” and “tone” and becomes known for its classic portraiture and weddings.

1977

Current owners John Rak and Mun Kwan Tham purchase Artona. As a talented wedding photographer, John photographs hundreds of weddings each year and wins many local awards.

1992

Artona shifts from wedding photography to school photography. Relationships with schools start to form and the company soon becomes the leading provider of local school photography.
